WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is a hands-on (or hands-off, if the client prefers) method of energy direction and transference. It calms and relaxes the body, and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system to resume proper function, thereby promoting healing and balance. It reduces inflammation, stress, and pain. Yes – it can actually relieve pain.
Reiki is said to have been discovered and developed in Japan at the turn of the 20th Century. But ancient Tibetans, and other ancient societies, were using strikingly similar symbols and methods of healing, since….well, a long time ago. Nobody really knows.
The practitioner’s hands are placed gently and held still on up to 13 locations on the body, or on a specific injury or pain area. It is not massage; no movement or tissue manipulation is involved. The hands can just be hovered, if you do not wish to be touched. The breasts and genitals are never touched, and the client is fully clothed.
Reiki is very healing and helpful for both physical and emotional issues. It’s amazing all by itself, but it’s also an excellent adjunct to hypnosis. With permission beforehand, I add it if the client cannot relax, or is experiencing resistance. Reiki amplifies the beneficial effects of a hypnosis session.
Reiki Practitioners are trained and attuned to channel health-promoting Life Force energy through their body and hands, and direct that energy into you. They are not ‘exchanging’ their own energy with you, because they are trained to create a clear conduit. Therefore, you won’t absorb any negative or other energy from the practitioner.
Sensations such as tingling, deep relaxation, warmth or coolness, discomfort, or emotions may come up. Some people become so relaxed they actually fall asleep! You are always welcome to speak, ask questions during a session, or discontinue receiving Reiki if you wish.
Though Life Force energy is considered spiritual, you do not need to be spiritual, in order to receive the benefits of a Reiki healing session.
I am a Usui/Holy Fire 3rd Degree Reiki Practitioner.
